ABOUT the SPEAKERS

Mary Elias is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA), Certified Management Accountant and Certified Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor. She earned her Bachelor’s in Accounting from World Education Services and has passed investment licenses Series 7, 31, 66 and insurance. Mary has over 20 years of experience in accounting including business startup, cleanup, windup and everything in between. Her passion lies with helping small businesses understand accounting and manage their books. Mary is specially trained and certified to analyze and evaluate divorce settlements, including the tax implications of dividing property and options for dividing pension/401(k) plans, marital property, and awarding child support and spousal support (alimony). She is also the co-founder of Your Divorce Workshop.

Karem F. Vera graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a B.S in Psychology. Became a Florida Supreme Court County/Civil Mediator and began mediating in the 17th (Broward County) Judicial Circuit. In 2004, she relocated north to Palm Beach County and added the 15th (Palm Beach County) Judicial Circuit to her curriculum vitae. It was at this time she found her true calling and passion, family mediation. This prompted the creation of “Professional Mediators, LLC.”. In addition to her County/Civil & Family certification, Karem is also certified as a Circuit/Civil & Dependency mediator. Karem, is not only an Independent Contractor with the 15th & 17th Judicial Circuits, she is also contracted by the Collins Center, American Arbitration Association and the Palm Beach Bar Association (Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation Program) and is also a Certified Guardian Ad Litem.
